Building a PC isn't for everyone and it's imperative that you know what you're looking for in a PC before you make a decision on whether to build or buy a prebuilt PC.
Building a PC
There are a number of benefits when building your own PC. For one, you have flexibility when it comes to what you're getting in your PC. You get to choose everything form the case to the CPU. But this kind of freedom comes at a price and sometimes that price is pretty steep. Because you have to buy each part individually, (unless you find a sweet deal on some sort of bundle) the cost may amount to more than what a typical prebuilt PC might have cost. The higher price of your PC doesn't come in vain though, while it might cost you a pretty penny, more often than not, the components in your very own PC will be of faster and higher quality (that is if you did your research before hand and know what you're buying) compared to a prebuilt PC.

Buying a Prebuilt PC
I recommend buying a prebuilt PC if you're not an enthusiast about computers. By that I mean, if you want a computer that will do your basic tasks like browsing the web, checking emails, watching videos, and maybe even some light gaming, then a prebuilt PC is for you. If that is the type of person you are, you can practically buy any PC out there. They are all great and you are the only one that knows what you want. it's safe to say that the more pricey the computer is, the more it'll be able to do for you. So if you have the extra cash, splurge a bit more and get the fastest computer you can. It'll last you a lot longer and the speed increase is a blessing.
