The thing about computers is that, not every computer is for everyone. Everyone has their own needs and there is no such things as a "perfect computer". The first step when choosing the right computer is to decide whether you want a Desktop or Laptop.
Desktop
The most conventional form, and oldest form, of a computer is a desktop. For the most part, most desktops have two parts to them: the tower -- which contains all the fancy components -- and the monitor. Depending on the size of your tower, you're able to fit bigger and more powerful components into the tower, therefore giving you a stronger and faster computer. But because of their size, many people stay away from Desktops because they are just impractical for their needs. For example someone who needs a computer specifically for writing papers might not want a Desktop. In their case, they might want a laptop so that their able to write down their ideas no matter where they arise. If you choose a Desktop, you are most likely someone who needs the extra power for thing such as gaming and have the space for a Desktop.
Laptop
In my opinion, Laptops are works of Ingenuity! They fit an entire computer in a small form factor that you can take with you practically anywhere. But with such a small form factor, there are drawbacks. The biggest is their power. In order to get a computer in such a small chassis you have to sacrifice components inside. The most common is the lack of a dedicated graphics card. This means that you will not be likely to do any heavy gaming or editing on a laptop. Laptops simply do not have the power to work that hard.
Computers are super customizable, so no matter the type of person you are, I am sure you will find the right fit for you :^)
